We visited him almost every day last week, and he was steadily making progress. On Thursday a caseworker called and informed me that since he wasn't a Kaiser member, they would need to transfer him once he was stable enough for the move.
By Friday, they decided that he was well enough to be moved. But they found the worst hospital possible for him, no matter what I said, the caseworker insisted that there were no other hospitals with available ICU beds. I specifically said to her, "I'm afraid that once he gets transferred to that hospital, he won't make it out alive."
We visited him on Sunday at the dinky hospital, and he seemed to be better. He was finally breathing on his own, and was awake enough to have some verbal communication. Yet this morning we got a call from the hospital, informing us that his heart rate dropped and they did everything they could, but he passed away.
I'm sad and angry, and can't stop wondering that if I had tried harder to find him a better hospital, maybe he would still be alive.
Everyone around me has been very supportive. They remind me that when a person's time is up, there isn't much others can do. I know that, I really do. I know that death is only the beginning. I also know that God is good and what happened to the old man was God's will. Still, I can't shake feeling the way I do now.

The Old Man
Saturday was the end of the year of the dragon on the Lunar calendar. Everyone that observes the Lunar New Year was busy preparing for the yearly festivity, and even I had been summoned to help cleaning my parents' house. All the sisters agreed to be home at 11am to clean till about 2pm.
I woke up around 8 that morning, and stayed in bed to read and play with Chloe for a bit. Some time after 9, Minh went up to the front house to do the laundry, but did not come back for a while. Then he popped back in as I started to doze again, and said that the old man wasn't waking up.

Annoying People
So there is this guy at my office that really, really irritates me. He's worse than the other lady that also irritate me. OK, by now you must think that I'm an irritable person, but I'm really not. Let me tell you why he irritates the heck outta me.
His office is pretty close to the lunch room. SO mo matter what time I go to the lunch room, he shows up, and starts to talk. I do my very best to ignore him, but he doesn't get it. He simply wants to talk to people, and he won't shut up. One day, as I was heating up my lunch, he walked in, and began asking me what I thought about the two presidential candidates. What? Are you f*cking kidding me? Don't you know that it's one of the "DON'T"'s in a professional environment? So I shrugged. Then he went on to talk about some other political issues about which I don't give a rat's ass. He didn't seem to care that I barely responded, and went on enjoying the sound of his own voice.
This happens almost on a daily basis, and I always try very hard to control myself, so the fork in my hand doesn't end up being thrown across the table.
I guess he FINALLY got the message that I didn't like the political topics, because after several attempt and got no response from me, he tried a different topic today: traffic. I was half way through my lunch, when he walked in. He said "what's up?" and I responded with "hey." Then I went back to reading something on my phone. To most people, it should be pretty obvious that I wasn't trying to have a conversation. However, he was either to oblivious or just didn't care. He went on to asking me questions about traffic and rush hour. I fell for it and replied. Then in the middle of replying, I realized that I should've just shrugged like before.
Don't get me wrong. He doesn't do this to me only, so it's not like he's into me or anything like that. He just wants to talk to people. I've seen others in the office getting bombarded with his endless questions. I can't help but to wonder if he has any friends, or if anyone at home to talk to.
Starting tomorrow, I'm going to wear my bright hot-pink headphones with music on while having lunch. Hopefully he (and the other annoying one) will get the point that I do not want to be bothered with their questions or conversations.
End of rant. Back to work I go.

PHISING EMAILS WARNING!
Wow, these people don't give up, huh?
Newest phishing e-mail that I just encountered today is one that poses as an order confirmation from Amazon. If you get something similar and you know that you have not ordered anything, please do not rush to open the link in the e-mail. Check your bank and credit card statements first, to make sure that no charges have taken place. Also, most e-mail programs allows you to see the full link without clicking on it. Simply move your mouse cursor to the link (without clicking!) and the full link will pop up. It's most likely NOT going to be an Amazon link. Even if it looks like one, don't click, just to be cautious.
