Friggin Fleas

For the first time in life, I've had to battle fleas, and it's been ongoing for 2+ weeks now.

First, Chloe's sitter told us that she found 3 fleas on Chloe while grooming her (yikes).  The next thing we knew, both Minh and I were getting bites around our ankles after a night of sleep.  We decided to fog the place.

Following the recommendation, we used two foggers, which didn't seem to work, because as we were cleaning up, we got bitten again.  So a week later, we fogged it again, using 4 foggers this time.  I think it killed every bug inside our little house.

The aftermath is the most time and energy consuming, though.  For a whole week, every night after work, I was wiping everything down, washing all dishes, and doing loads and loads of laundry.  The one night, I spent hours on the floor.  I swept, mopped, sprayed more flea spray on the floor, re-mopped, and finally, steamed the floor.  Needless to say, my back ached for a day after that.

Oh and I have to admit, the week during the first and second fogging, I did something that triggered an argument between Minh and me.  After doing some research online, I went to Target and bought 4 bottles of baby powder, and used a whole bottle around the house.  I baby-powered the entire place.  Yup, the floor, the couch, the bed, EVERYWHERE!   It probably would've worked really well if we had carpeted floor, but we don't.  We have tile floor.  So the powder got everywhere and was the biggest pain in the behind to clean up, and Minh did most of the baby powder cleanup.  My poor husband... He certainly had the right to be upset.

Life is almost back to normal now.  We still have some clothes and curtains to wash, but at least the place is liveable again.

Chloe came back from the sitter last night, after spending the weekend there with Nino.  I found two bug-looking things on her (yeah, I've never really seen a flea).  I panicked, grabbed the spray bottle that has the lavender mixture, and sprayed the heck out of her, then used a paper towel to grab whatever it was.  I think I got it, or at least I hope I got it.  And I certainly hope that it wasn't a flea that hopped on her while she walked from the car back to our place, cuz that would REALLY, REALLY suck.

Now I'm just praying for the cold weather to hurry and come so fleas won't be active, so we can do another major cleaning of our place to get rid of them (if any) once and for all!
