Fat? Really?

A few friends and I were talking about a Taiwanese blogger, specifically this article:  http://www.wretch.cc/blog/illyqueen/13314091

And someone chimed in and said "she is fat."

REALLY?  You call that FAT?  Does that mean a girl has to be skin & bones to be called skinny?

What the hell is wrong with people?

Little Kitten Needs a Home (Resolved)

Edit:  My sister and her boyfriend decided last night that they're going to make Rusty (yes, they named him) their 3rd cat.  He's just toooooo cute and so loveable!
 =========================
My sister's neighbor found this cute kitten on their porch this morning.  The neighbor's husband is allergic, and my sister already has two cats, so we need to find a loving home for the kitten.  If anyone in the Greater Los Angeles and surrounding area would like to adopt this kitten, please leave me a private message.  Thanks!

Taxes

Individual extended tax returns are due in a week, so the few that actually read this blog that resides in the U.S., if you haven't filed your tax return yet, please do so ASAP.

But that's not really the reason for me to be blogging today.  The reason is the new law that our lovely California governor Brown just signed a new law that gives ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS college financial aids.

W.T.F.?????!!!!!

Illegal = not legal.  They came into the country without proper paperworks, and they don't pay taxes, so why, I ask, WHY GIVE THEM OUR TAX DOLLARS?  It's bad enough that the unemployment rate is high in California, and that those employed pay into the system, AND the state is still almost broke.  Now he's going to give money to those that do not pay into the system?  They can't legally work, so even after they obtain the education, they cannot contribute to the U.S.  Then what?

He can forget about being re-elected, if you ask me.  The people he's trying to please, by signing this law, cannot even vote.  And those that vote, democrat and republican alike, are more likely upset like me about this bullcrap.

Can we vote him out of the office?

Weird Dream

I woke up SO upset around 3am, huffing and puffing, I tell ya.

Well, you'll understand the reason once you finish reading this dream that I had.  So, in the dream, I was at home with this woman, who was (gasp!) my husband's other woman, and I was helping her with her resume.  She wasn't quite happy with the progress, that much I knew.  I can't remember her face, but she was the type of woman that I don't like:  soft-spoken in a very soft way, needy, and carries a "poor me" face all the time.

Minh came home, and gave me a kiss.  Instantly I felt somewhat guilty for kissing him in front of her (but he is my husband!), so I got up and gave them some time alone.  A few minutes later when I returned, they were both on their feet.  He said "I think it would be better that we go out and work on this."

I heard myself ask, "'We?'  'We' as in you and me, or 'we' as in her and you?"

He looked a bit sorry, and replied "me and her."

That did it!  I was FURIOUS!  I was mad at him for having brought her home, at her for having that "see, I won" look on her f*cking face, and even more mad at myself for staying around in the first place.  Why didn't I leave when he brought her home?

Then poof, I woke up from this crazy-ass dream.  I looked to my left and saw my loving husband on the couch playing video game, and looked to my right to see Chloe sleeping soundly next to me. OK, it was just a dream.

Friggin Fleas

For the first time in life, I've had to battle fleas, and it's been ongoing for 2+ weeks now.

First, Chloe's sitter told us that she found 3 fleas on Chloe while grooming her (yikes).  The next thing we knew, both Minh and I were getting bites around our ankles after a night of sleep.  We decided to fog the place.

Following the recommendation, we used two foggers, which didn't seem to work, because as we were cleaning up, we got bitten again.  So a week later, we fogged it again, using 4 foggers this time.  I think it killed every bug inside our little house.

The aftermath is the most time and energy consuming, though.  For a whole week, every night after work, I was wiping everything down, washing all dishes, and doing loads and loads of laundry.  The one night, I spent hours on the floor.  I swept, mopped, sprayed more flea spray on the floor, re-mopped, and finally, steamed the floor.  Needless to say, my back ached for a day after that.

Oh and I have to admit, the week during the first and second fogging, I did something that triggered an argument between Minh and me.  After doing some research online, I went to Target and bought 4 bottles of baby powder, and used a whole bottle around the house.  I baby-powered the entire place.  Yup, the floor, the couch, the bed, EVERYWHERE!   It probably would've worked really well if we had carpeted floor, but we don't.  We have tile floor.  So the powder got everywhere and was the biggest pain in the behind to clean up, and Minh did most of the baby powder cleanup.  My poor husband... He certainly had the right to be upset.

Life is almost back to normal now.  We still have some clothes and curtains to wash, but at least the place is liveable again.

Chloe came back from the sitter last night, after spending the weekend there with Nino.  I found two bug-looking things on her (yeah, I've never really seen a flea).  I panicked, grabbed the spray bottle that has the lavender mixture, and sprayed the heck out of her, then used a paper towel to grab whatever it was.  I think I got it, or at least I hope I got it.  And I certainly hope that it wasn't a flea that hopped on her while she walked from the car back to our place, cuz that would REALLY, REALLY suck.

Now I'm just praying for the cold weather to hurry and come so fleas won't be active, so we can do another major cleaning of our place to get rid of them (if any) once and for all!

POTENTIAL SCAM

I really don't know if anyone reads my blog at all, but I have an important announcement.

If you get a call from a Dr. Peacock, asking to leave a message with you (for your boss) and asks you to repeat the message back to him slowly, HANG UP THE PHONE.  I got this call yesterday AND today.  Yesterday I read the message back to him, though not word for word as he requested.  Then someone with a different voice called today claiming to be Dr. Peacock, asked if I had the message from yesterday, then asked me to read it to him slowly word for word.

After discussing this with my boss, we think that he might have been recording my voice, and could be trying to use the recording to call others and play back the message.

Yesterday he didn't leave a phone number, but today I was able to get it out of him.  It's a 312 area code number, and after tracking it down, I found out that it's a cell phone number based in Cook County.

So guys, you've been warned.

Weird Sci-Fi-ish Dream

This happened twice this early morning.

In my dream, I was laying in bed, and Minh sat down next to me to talk.  I noticed that his hair was a bit lighter in color and ... sort of blotchy.  We were just talking when all of a sudden, another Minh came out of the bathroom asking me who I was talking to.  I was completely shocked!  I looked at him, then looked back at the one I was talking to, and they were both him!  But the one that came out of the bathroom seemed more real.  Apparently, the one on the bed was only a part of Minh that decided to come out of him and become his own person.  I urged him to go back inside of Minh.

WEIRD!

The then dream happened again right before I woke up this morning.  I can't quite remember what happened, but I remember telling him again to return to Minh.

Yeah, I have crazy dreams.

The Type of Mom I Shall Not Become

On January 8th, this article was published on Wall Street Journal.

In summary, the author believes that the best way to educate children is by setting up many rules and forbid, yes, I use the word forbid, them from doing anything they may like, or exercise their human right of choice making.

These are her 10 cannot's (quoted from the article):

The Right Person at the Right Time

After Minh and I met, we both talked about how we wished we had met each other sooner.  It was obvious to us that we were right for each other, yet it took such a long time for us to meet.  We lived so close to each other (in Southern California, a 10-minute drive is close, trust me), he went to the same high school as my sisters, and we both knew Ryan. Ryan is this boy I met during the first year of living in the US, back in 1992.  Apparently, Minh and Ryan went to the same middle school, and are best friends with the same guy.
